The New Economics Foundation and other organisations have extensively researched the social, environmental and economic benefits of a shorter working week and we think that getting the work/life balance right is really important –
We are a big fan of the 4 day week so you won’t get us on a Friday
Barn conversions can be a bigger challenge than building from scratch and it makes sense to have a clear strategy for the improvements needed to walls, floors and roof structures in order to achieve Part L targets. Although easier to achieve L1B targets than new build there are often limitations with openings, existing structures or interesting features that you want to retain. If we are involved from an early stages we can help you get it right.
MEES or Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards come into force in April 2018, these will mean that poorly performing buildings will not be able to be rented/leased without breaking the law.
Working with a commercial landlords we get a full picture of the work required to comply with April 2018 MEES regulations. Typically we survey a wide range of buildings and then put forward detailed proposals for the work required to achieve a minimum of “E” ratings. If you have commercial buildings with “F” or “G” ratings you should be looking at improvement strategies now.
We worked with Crookshank & Co Chartered Surveyors & Aaron Chetwynd Architect Studio on this split level house helping to get an excellent energy rating. The project combines high performance building fabric, condensing gas boiler with underfloor heating, mechanical ventilation & heat recovery and solar panels for hot water.
